Story

La Corriona is a small plot within finca Colombia taken care of by the Caceres family. The farm was founded in 1916 by María Magaña Menéndez de Llanos and her husband PhD. Francisco Antonio Llanos.

Dr. Llanos migrated to El Salvador a few years prior from Colombia. His passion and nostalgia for coffee growing in his native country was the engine which lead him to found the farm. The farm always had a difficult access, however, Francisco and Maria continued working and cultivating their farm until the end of their days. The farm was then inherited by their only daughter, Otilia Llanos de Barrios, who continued their legacy and taught the love for coffee to her daughter Evelyn Barrios.

In 2016, Evelyn Barrios together with her children made the decision to sell the farm, a decision they had to make due to the crisis in the area. We grew up listening to great stories about this land, how our uncles were transported to work the farm, to the quality of their coffee.

It was always considered the Crown of the family farms and it was the previous along with the desire that it continued to belong to the family which at the end let them acquire it back on the 100th anniversary.

Nowadays we are working with the fourth and fifth generation of coffee producers to care for, preserve and enrich our passion for coffee. It is worth mentioning that the problems of insecurity in the area persist, however we are of the opinion that everyone must improve their square meter and do their best to solve the problems of the area. That is why we have come to work hand in hand with our workers and the community that surrounds us, providing private doctors and medicine for free, paying more than stipulated by law and betting on the education of children in the area, thus achieving to work without any attack on our safety or to that of our employees.

La Corriona has a promising future, we bet strongly for the renewal of coffee plantations, for the inclusion of new varieties that provide us with quality in cup, for the innovation in processing that can give us consistency in our quality and for the traceability of our coffee. The farm has been awarded 2 years in a row at the Cup of Excellence in 2018 and 2019.

This lot was processed as natural for 19 days on average of drying. Cherries were floated and then moved to raised beds for the proper drying.
