The Miners St. Augustin is our second address in Brno, a few minutes from the historic centre on Jaselská. Masaryk University campuses sit on every side, Lužánky Park is a short walk north, and the street carries students, office workers and locals in roughly equal measure all day. Plenty of space, a lively room and a regular run of community events. Specialty coffee, artisan pastries and brunch, from the first class of the morning to the long afternoon table.
BETWEEN CAMPUS AND LUŽÁNKY Jaselská runs through one of the busiest parts of Brno. University buildings on several sides, the historic centre minutes away on foot, Lužánky — the city's oldest public park — just north. Lectures, lunch breaks, gym bags and weekend walks all pass the same corner.
CONCRETE, WALNUT & TWO LOUD WALLS Raw concrete ceilings with the ducts and pipework left exposed, slim white columns next to tall walnut ones, polished concrete underfoot. The room stays quiet in material and loud in detail: a chequerboard tile inlay marking out the lounge, planting on every ledge, and two large canvases — one at either end of the room — carrying all the colour the concrete doesn't.
ROOM TO STAY One big room, built for staying: deep seating and low tables under the artwork, armchairs, a leather sofa, bar stools along the counter, banquettes for a quick flat white. Friends after class, a laptop and a long filter, colleagues over lunch, a date that runs late — all in the same room, none of them in each other's way.
