Coffee Story
Sequóia Farm began operations in the 1970s, benefiting from the migration of coffee growers from southern Minas Gerais who sought more affordable land, abundant labor, and a lower risk of frost. In 2012, the farm was acquired by São Miguel Holding and came under the management of brothers Pedro, Paulo, and Vicente Lima.
Today, the farm’s mission is to create value through investment in specialty coffee production and the diversification of agricultural activities, while sharing technology with other producers in the region.
Region & Farm
Region
Farm
Fazenda Sequóia is located in the Chapada de Minas region at altitudes between 950 - 1200 meters above sea level. The farm itself covers about 3,898 hectares, of which 2,692 hectares are protected areas and 1,206 hectares are production fields. Its unique microclimatefosters the development of complex and clean flavor profiles.
The combination of traditional practices, a focus on sustainability, and rich biodiversity creates coffee with a distinctive taste that reflects the terroir of the region.”
Processing & Flavor
Natural processing can be challenging to execute without damaging the beans. However, when properly done, it can add a substantial body, sweetness, smoothness, and complexity to the taste profile. This coffee was naturally processed and then left to dry on a patio for approx. 15 days based on the weather.
The Taste Idea
"With Sequóia’s coffee, we were especially aiming for a very clean and not your ordinary Brazilian coffee. The easiest way to describe the result would be milk chocolate like texture, sweetness reminiscent of yellow plums and herbal liqueur finish."
Jan Jim Huza - Head Roaster.
