Coffee Story

The journey began when brothers Asefa and Mulugeta Dukamo laid the foundation for a family-driven project that now connects thousands of farmers across the region.
But the story goes beyond export. In Sidama, Daye Bensa plays an active role as a partner in local development — from awarding top-performing farmers to bonus payments and education programs supporting women and young growers.
These efforts help build long-term sustainability and empower the next generation of specialty coffee producers.

Region & Farm

Region

Sidama

Sidama is located in southern Ethiopia and is considered one of the country’s most established and distinctive coffee-growing regions. High altitudes, fertile soils and a stable climate create ideal conditions for producing expressive coffees with clarity and balance.
Sidama coffees are known for their florality, structure and elegance, qualities that translate especially well into espresso and milk-based drinks.

Farm

In villages such as Shantawene and Keramo, coffee cultivation is a way of life. Thousands of families work side by side to nurture cherries from tree to harvest.
The cherries are processed at the Daye Bensa station. The station serves as a central hub for the local farming community, ensuring that the hard work of the families results in the highest quality product.

Processing & Flavor

Heirloom variety.
Cherries are handpicked at peak ripeness and carefully sorted so that only the best beans proceed to the next stage.
They are then dried on raised African beds from 8 to 20 days, with layers turned regularly.
This process enhances body and texture, while maintaining subtle floral and fruit notes.

The Taste Idea

" The roast was designed to create a reliable and approachable espresso for milk drinks. The focus is on natural sweetness, body and a creamy texture, while floral and fruit notes remain subtle and supportive. The result is a smooth and clean espresso that maintains its character within milk drinks while still easy to drink as everyday espresso. "

Jan Jim Hůza - Head Roaster.
