CHUECA’S LIVING ROOM
Our third address in Madrid, and the first in Chueca: The Miners Plaza Pedro Zerolo, a few steps off the square it takes its name from. That square has been renaming itself since 1836, when a demolished convent was replaced with elms and acacias; since 2016 it carries the name of Pedro Zerolo, the councillor and activist who spent his life arguing that the city should be bigger than it was. In summer it becomes a stage for the whole of Madrid. The rest of the year it is where people sit for three hours over one coffee. We are on Calle de las Infantas, one block below Gran Vía.
