Region & Farm
Region
The Lâm Đồng Province lies within The Central Highlands, which is home to about 95% of all coffee production in Vietnam. The area is surrounded by the native forests of Núi Bà Bidoup and is a home to many K’Ho families who rely on agroforestry and farming for their livelihoods. Local producers will generally grow tea and tropical fruits along with their coffee.
Farm
Đưng K’Nớ Village lies in Lạc Dương District, Lâm Đồng Province, at 1,500 meters above sea level, with surrounding hills rising to 1,850 meters and often wrapped in thick fog, earning it the nickname “the invisible village.” Lộc Rừng Coffee partnered with K’Ho producers there to help secure their land and preserve traditional practices after the 1990s shift toward chemical fertilizers and pesticides, introduced to boost productivity and reduce poverty, left soils depleted and plants weakened, prompting many farmers to gradually return to traditional methods.
Processing and Taste
Liberica and Dewevrei are a rare botanical coffee species representing less than 2% of the global coffee market. The coffee undergoes an extended carbonic maceration for 20 days in a CO₂-rich, oxygen-free environment. After fermentation, the coffee is dried for approximately 30 days on shaded raised beds, ensuring slow, even drying. We released it in drip bags as filter brewing allows the variety’s unique characteristics to shine through with maximum clarity, and its format makes this rare coffee more accessible.
Flavor Profile
A very sweet and unusual cup which reminds us of overripe papaya and sugarcane juice accompanied with rather mellow acidity of rambutan and red with a finish reminiscent of Baileys.
